The KSD Education Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that fosters academic excellence through cooperation among educators, parents, alums, and the local community. Our mission is to enrich the educational experience of students attending Kearney public schools, paving the way for a brighter future in ways not supported by tax dollars. Since our establishment in 2010, we have contributed over $500,000 in support to Kearney school staff and students. This includes:
Classroom Innovation Grants to help provide hands-on, project-based learning experiences in STEAM subjects.
Special Allocation Grants to help support enhanced projects rooted in learning created by KSD teachers.
Scholarships to help seniors pursue higher education.
Teacher and Staff Awards to recognize staff for exemplary teaching.
As a volunteer-driven organization, the Foundation is governed by a board of directors comprising nine dedicated community volunteers, an advisory board comprising twelve community volunteers, and one part-time professional. They work closely with community business sponsors and individual donors to combine external resources, including continuous sponsorships, yearly commitments, one-time donations, lifetime contributions, or legacy gifts, to establish or contribute to various programs.
The KSD Education Foundation operates independently of Kearney School District and relies solely on private donations for financial support. We are immensely grateful for the generous contributions of our donors, which have enabled us to enrich educational opportunities for both students and staff. In the 2022-23 school year, we awarded over $40,000 in grants and student scholarships. We are committed to enhancing the education of all KSD students, and our dedicated supporters and volunteers make all these efforts possible.
