Honor/Memorial Gifts

Making a gift in honor or memory of a family member, friend, colleague, teacher, or community leader is a touching way to pay tribute to that special person. These gifts can be made to support the general fund of the Foundation or designated for a particular purpose, program, or fund.  When you give an honorarium or memorial gift, the honoree or the deceased's family will receive a gift acknowledgment recognizing the donor. As the donor, you will receive a receipt to record your tax-deductible donation. Donations may be made online, by phone, or by mail. Scholarship and Endowed Funds

The KSD Education Foundation has established an endowment fund with the intent to sustain support for the Kearney School District, not just for a year or a decade, but for generations. By preparing for the future, we provide a foundation vital to Kearney continuing as a destination district, even years from now when today’s students are parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents.

What is an Endowment Fund?

Endowment Funds are monies typically held in long-term investments with the principal remaining untouched, allowing the funds to have a more significant impact over time. The money may be permanently restricted, temporarily restricted, or unrestricted in its use based on the request and intent of the donor.

Why is an Endowment Fund Important?

The money held in our Endowment Fund generates interest and dividend income that, as it grows, may one day be used to support programs, initiatives, or even foundation staff by providing a permanent ongoing source of revenue.

Is a gift to the Endowment the right fit for me?

We encourage donors to consider contributing to the Education Foundation’s Endowment Fund.  Contributions to the Endowment Fund secure the Foundation's ability to provide long-term support for the Kearney School District. For more information, contact the KSD Education Foundation office at 816-628-6475 or info@ksdef.com.

Event Sponsorship

Benefit from great exposure while helping KSD students!

The KSD Education Foundation offers business partners, families, and individuals the chance to put their brand logo/name on high-visibility community events each year. These fun, community-wide events provide great business exposure while raising funds to support KSDEF's mission.

KSDEF's annual events include the Turkey Trot and our Rise and Shine for Kids Community Breakfast. If you would like more information, please CLICK HERE.

Corporate Matching Gifts

Many companies and organizations will match or even multiply a portion of an employee's donation to a non-profit, significantly increasing a donor's gift to KSDEF.  Companies may match many kinds of gifts, including one-time gifts, monthly pledges, workplace giving, and donations of professional services. Donors may check with their employer’s Human Resources Department to see if a matching gift program is available. The Foundation will help complete any necessary paperwork required.

Planned Giving : Legacy Giving

Planned giving leaves a legacy of learning for future generations of children in our community. By including the KSD Education Foundation as a beneficiary of your estate or will, your investment will become a lasting legacy that benefits our students and schools for years to come. Many options are available regarding planned giving, including:

In many cases, there can be significant tax advantages in these types of giving, allowing you to contribute more significantly to help students achieve their full potential. We recommend you talk to your attorney and financial advisor for more details.

IRA Donations

If you are over 72, you can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA. Your donation is 100% tax-free, and IRA account owners can make direct charitable contributions of up to $100,000 annually. Additionally, this strategy won’t bump up your adjusted gross income, making a QCD one way to be charitable and reduce taxes. We recommend you contact your financial advisor or IRA custodian for more details.

Donate Appreciated Stock/Securities

You may enjoy two tax benefits with a gift of appreciated stock: Avoid paying taxes on the appreciated value and qualify for an income tax charitable deduction based on today’s market value when you itemize. We recommend you talk to your financial advisor for more details.

Donate Your Car

Save time and benefit the KSD Education Foundation by donating your car to KSDEF. We've partnered with CARS - Vehicle Donation Program to make the process quick and hassle-free. Click HERE for more information or call 1-855-500-RIDE.

Payroll Deduction

Kearney School District employees may make a gift via payroll deduction to support KSDEF programs and senior scholarships through the KSD's Pay It Forward Campaign. If you want to update your gift amount, please get in touch with payroll at the district office. Click HERE for more information.

In-Kind Donations

Non-monetary donations are always welcome! Often, items such as tickets to professional athletic events, food or gift basket items, and other items that can be raffled off later or needed for KSDEF fundraising events are donated, which is a huge help to the Foundation.

KSD Education Foundation is committed to enriching the education provided to all students by the Kearney School District. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization supported by private donations.
